The body is constantly in flux, ever adapting to changes in the world around us and within us. Therefore everyday a great number of things must work in harmony and when they do we call this health. When they are not, the body speaks to us, often in an unpleasant tone by way of pain or discomfort. The body speaks and the Osteopath listens.
We learn English and perhaps French or Japanese at school but what about the language of the body? The body speaks very clearly but through a mysterious language. That language is sensation and feeling, the intermediary between the brain and body. It is always telling us something, though just what is not always so easy to interpret.
With 5 years of university education and extensive training in anatomy, physiology, pathology and biomechanics Osteopaths are well placed to understand this language. Since 1892 osteopaths have have been studying the body, refining techniques and passing them on from generation to generation, we are standing on the shoulders of giants. With a rich heritage and current evidence-informed practice, Osteopaths have a vast knowledge and repertoire of techniques to restore the body to balance.
